Online Global Social Work Seminar

"Global changes demand that social work worldwide recalibrate both education and practice to fit the rapidly shifting social, economic and political contexts. International social work, cross-border collaboration and the global social agenda call for a renewed vision of possibilities and innovation in social work practice. The Seminar will highlight mega worldwide trends and population shifts of various nations. Both internationally renowned speakers and local panels will discuss the implications of internationalizing social work education, curriculum development and new frontiers for global social work practice."

In conjunction with her 4th Anniversary celebration the Global Institute of Social Work, launched an online International Seminar on Global Social Work, on 23rd November 2017.

Guest of Honor: Associate Professorial Fellow Ann Wee, pioneer social work educator of Singapore, National University of Singapore. NUS Press recently published her book: A Tiger Remembers: The Way We Were in Singapore. The Ann Wee NUS Social Work Alumni Award was set up in her name to recognize NUS Social Work alumni who have made major contributions to social work education and practice. The naming of the Award reflects the affection for Mrs Ann Wee as the longest serving Head of the Department.

Keynote Speaker: Prof Paul Cheung is a social work trained Professor of Social Policy and Analytics at the National University of Singapore. He served as the Director of the United Nations Statistics Division at the United Nations HQ, New York. Professor Cheung had initiated the inter-governmental platform to address issues on Global Geospatial Information Management. Previously, Professor Cheung had also served as Chief Statistician and Director of the Population Planning Unit of the Government of Singapore.
